Hi everyone. I'm Alicia Menendez in for Nicole Wallace here in Washington, D.C. And we come on the air with some

big breaking news. Judge Juan Marshan, the judge overseeing the Trump-Hush Money case, has just ordered

President-elect Donald Trump to appear for sentencing on January 10th. That is just 10 days before

Trump is set to be inaugurated.

The judge saying that regardless of Trump's status as a future president, the wheels of justice

must keep turning. The judge saying, quote, the defendant has been found guilty on 34 felony counts.

The significance of the fact that the verdict was handed down by a unanimous

jury of defendant's peers after trial cannot possibly be overstated. Indeed, the sanctity of a

jury verdict and the deference that must be accorded to it is a bedrock principle in our nation's

jurisprudence. And that big breaking news is where we start

today with top former official at the Department of Justice and MSNBC legal analyst, Andrew Weissman,

plus former Democratic Senator and MSNBC political analyst, Claire McCaskill. And with me at the table,

MSNBC political analysts, Juanita Tulliver, MSNBC legal analyst, Lisa Rubin,

joins us in just a few minutes. All right, Andrew Weissman, I am still reading through this ruling.

I know you are as well. What stood out to you? Well, I think that our viewers should understand

that Donald Trump had made a motion saying that because of

presidential temporary immunity, when he will serve as president, that that meant that he, during

this time while he's president elect, he should not be sentenced, nor during the time

that he is present, should he be sentenced. So in the time that he is present should he be sentenced.

So in other words, this should be kicked down the road for over four years.

He also said that the case should be dismissed as a result of this temporary immunity that a president enjoys.

The DA opposed that. And so here, Judge Mershahn is saying,
