As wild and crazy as the Trump presidency has been so far, this week we officially start

a new chapter, likely to be wilder and even more unpredictable.

A Democratic-controlled House has taken office armed with subpoena power and determined

to conduct relentless investigations of his administration.

At the same time, prosecutors for Robert Mueller and the Southern District in New York still

have open criminal investigations into the conduct of the president and his close associates.

As if that wasn't enough, an old frenemy from the past, Mitt Romney, has just sent a

shot across the bow, declaring the president's character, quote, falls short, and vowing to

quote, speak out against significant statements that are divisive, racist, sexist, anti-immigrant,

dishonest, or destructive to democratic institutions.

That's a pledge that if he's true to it, could keep Romney pretty busy and possibly signal

a Republican primary challenge in 2020.
