We rather pride ourselves on the political thinking podcast, that people appear, they have

a conversation, and days, weeks later, they get promoted, but there is always an exception

that proves the rule.

Well Nick, this is going to be the only interesting thing on my obituary that's going to be written,

to ranchal ownership.

That of course was the former defence secretary.

Now Gavin Williamson doesn't need an obituary, he hasn't died, though perhaps his political

career is now dead.

When I talked him just a few weeks ago, I asked him about that pet spider, the one he used

to have on his desk when he was chief whip, the one that was used to intimidate Tory MPs.

I asked him if he could confirm the torrentialist name, Krownis, after the Greek god who

you served his father and his children.

I was worried that he had done that right.

I was wondering whether to say it.

Gavin Williamson was perhaps a little too unaware of what he should, and what he shouldn't

be saying.

It didn't take a hercule pyro to work out that he was at least the main suspect within

seconds of that leaked story about the cabinet row about Huawei, make it to the front page

of the telegraph.

Mr. Williamson, as you'll know, has strenuously denied that he was the leaker.

Not only that, he's done so, swearing on the lives of his children.
