So, why don't you turn to Ephesians chapter 4 and we're going to start there and know

the church has primarily become a non-profit organization.

And one of the goals this morning is to kind of bring us back to that place where we

reestablish some sense that the church is supposed to be established on the apostles and

prophets, Jesus Christ being our chief cornerstone Ephesians 2.

So let's just begin with chapter 4, verse 7 of the book of Ephesians.

Are you there?

To each one of us grace, everybody say grace was given according to the measure of

Christ's gift and everybody say Christ's gift.

Therefore it says when he ascended on high he led Catholic of a host of cathedrals and

he gave gifts to men.

Now this expression he ascended, what does it mean except for he also descended into

the lower parts of the earth.

He who ascended is himself, he who descended is himself, he ascended far above the heavens

and he might fill all things.

I wanted to start from an it and explain that one piece.

Remember when Paul writes this there is no new testament, they are writing the new testament

and all they have is the Old Testament and Paul wants to make this point that to each one

of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ's gift.

And so what he is trying to say is that Christ gave gifts to men.

There is no new testament so he pulls an Old Testament verse out of Psalm 68 which says

he ascended on high and he gave gifts to men.
