Summary

In the new episode of Film Stories with Simon Brew, a much-loved 90s superhero film, and a comedy that took nearly a decade to get to the screen. The Rocketeer was a big hope in 1991. It was switched to come out under the Disney label, and there were sequel plans too. And then its release happened. As for Blockers, how a first-time movie director got the job - and how the film evolved into something rather special. Stories of both are discussed in this episode. The aim of this podcast, though, is given away in its title. I'm here to

talk of the stories of films and I tend to talk about development stories, production stories,

behind the scenes stories, marketing, release, all that kind of stuff really, all those little

ingredients that go to make the films that we know and sometimes love just that, the films that we

know and sometimes love. The movies that I pick

tend to have a bit of a mainstream leaning. They're films I'm invested in to some degree as well and

interested in. I don't do snark. I make no apologies for that, nor am I being snarky about

people who like snark. I'm just not very good at it, and instead I just waffle on too much about films.

1:11.8

And I really like the two films I'm talking about in this episode, so I'm going to shut up and play you a clip from the first of those two films, and I'll come to its story the other side of this.
