We've been talking for a few months now about how we're not just turning the page into a new year, but we're turning the page into a new decade.

And we've been talking leading up to Passion 2020 about how that decade is the 20s again and how the roaring 20s are back.

Most of us remember being in American history class and talking about this amazing time in American history

a hundred years ago in the 20s and I know we've touched down on it many many times here

in the last few weeks but just to recap it was a time of euphoria in the

nation in the 1920s and when you dig down underneath it you can quickly see why

World War I had ended World War I lasted from 1914 to

1918 and listen to this in World War 1 22 million people died. In addition

to the 22 million people that died, 22 million people were injured in the war.

44 million lives affected by this conflict. And when the war ended of course euphoria began

some describe the time like this that it was an era in the 1920s of outrageousness. America through a party that lasted for an

entire decade. And everything was changing. For the first time in the history of America, more people

lived in urban areas than in rural areas. The economy doubled in America. The wealth of the nation doubled from 1920 to 1929. Everything was moving so

rapidly and what was a very regionalized nation before the 1920s all of a sudden became

a harmonized nation.

One of the things that contributed to this was the radio.

The radio took hold, the first commercial radio station in Pittsburgh came online in 1920.
