The Last week, Nick Parisi, the president of the Rod Sailing Memorial Foundation made an announcement on

Facebook that I had been waiting and hoping for. In this the hundredth year of

Rod Sailing's birth a statue of the great man is to be erected in Recreation

Park Binghamton New York Rod Serling's hometown.

So this is amazing news and Nick and the rest of the Memorial Foundation have done great work in making this happen and I think we're all grateful for that.

And it was my hope that when this did happen, I would be able to travel to New York to see the unveiling of the statue,

and I'll get to that in a moment.

So in his announcement, Nick said that due to the Kickstarter campaign and money from the local government,

the statue is indeed funded and will be unveiled this year.

Now there are two important dates to remember and the reason why I'm putting this out so early

in a special episode and not putting it at the end of an ordinary episode

is that I really want the word to get out about this ahead of time so if it's something that you'd consider going to

but you didn't catch nick's announcement then hopefully you will catch this podcast and it'll give you

time to make plans to make that trip to binghamton so the first date that you need to be aware of is May 18th

now Nick stresses in his Facebook announcement that this date isn't set in stone

it could be subject to change but as of right now that is the date that the statue will

be officially unveiled in Binghamton.

Now as I said that date could change but Nick goes on to say that a date that won't change is for Sailingfest 2024 which will take place on August 17th.

And at Sailingfest there will be some kind of dedication for the statue
