article by Will Leach who used to be a deadspin guy. We have him on

the show from time to time. Was he actually the founder of deadspin?

He might have been one of the original. He's not sure the original

guys. When deadspin was a thing. I don't think it's a thing. I mean, I

don't know it exists. And we'll each had an article about watching

sports on TV. The title was it's about to get incredibly

expensive to watch sports. And I was intrigued. And I clicked on it.

And there's some interesting nuggets in the story. First of all, ESPN

is apparently actively preparing to make the channel a standalone

streaming service available only to subscribers. Wow. That, you

know, cable has been dying. Yeah. More and more people are

cord cutting. But that would be a massive hit for cable. Because he

points out that when cable first started, there was a carriage fee ESPN

would get paid by the companies that are putting out. And it was

five 54 a month. Then it rose 16 cents. It just kept rising and rising

and rising. And now you basically pay 96 bucks if you're paying for

cable, just to have ESPN as part of the regular package, I guess on

average. That's what you watch it out. But you know, cables

expensive. So they gave you a ton of channels. You may not watch most of

that. You don't watch 89% of them. Correct. Yeah. But ESPN is
