And a good morning to you. It is Saturday, May the 21st. I'm Ali Velshi, as the House Select Committee on January 6th prepares for its public hearings to begin in just over three weeks.

The panel is homing in on some of the ex-presidents' closest cronies.

The former Attorney General Bill Barr is in talks with the committee about testifying.

A person familiar with the matter tells NBC News.

You'll remember the twice-impeached ex-president continually berated the Attorney General

Barr for not getting the Justice Department to validate his lies about the 2020 presidential

election results.

Axis reports no firm decision has been made by the committee on whether to invite Barr

to appear at the public hearings next month.

However, the committee has already spoken with one of the most prominent pushers of the 2020

election lies.

Rudy Giuliani, the former disgraced president's

former personal attorney, testified virtually before the select committee yesterday for roughly

nine hours, including breaks. One source tells NBC News, but not all of the ex-presidents' allies

are cooperating with the January 6th investigation. John Eastman, an attorney and the architect of the plot to have Mike Pence overturned the election

on that fateful day is seeking to stop the January 6th committee from obtaining two handwritten

notes that he allegedly received from the former president himself.

Eastman's lawyers have characterized the notes as, quote,

quintessential privileged material, end quote, arguing that such communications are protected by

attorney-client privilege. No word yet on whether that argument is going to hold up.

Now, as the January 6th committee prepares to take its probe public, it becomes more obvious every day

that the attack on the Capitol was part of a larger scheme to overturn the election results and
