Coming this way now, about 20 yards to my right... Oh, the broadcast got suddenly cut off. That was October 30th, 1938, the day Martians invaded Earth.

That is, in Orson Wells's legendary radio broadcast, The War of the Worlds.

Based on British author H.G. Wells' 1898 eponymous novel, the invading Martian machines obliterate

much of humanity by spreading a deadly weapon called the Black Smoke. This is the end now.

Smoke comes out.

Black smoke drifting over the city.

People in the streets see it now.
