You know, I want to give myself credit for not saying certain things.

For instance, there is a big trend to call some concept, another concept, adjacent.

Right? You've heard this, oh, it's not necessarily hateful, but it is hate adjacent.

Or even taken in another direction, I wouldn't call it sugary. It's sugary adjacent. And I guess I think we've wrung all the laughs out of the adjacent thing. I think it's meant to be funny, but not funny. Ironic slash funny it mostly serves the job of

signaling that you and the listener are both the kind of people who have heard this quote unquote joke.

I think it's, I would say joke adjacent if I was the kind of person to say adjacent.

But it just signals that you both know that the adjacent thing is in the air and you could say it and it's less formal than just saying almost.

Well, almost this big, right?

It's almost I want to say, sugarygary so you just say it's sugary adjacent and you become

the you know the sort of person who says adjacent instead of almost which is you know a more of a

winking person than a beseeching person.

Here's another one I want credit for.

Well, I've talked about this one on the show, controversial.

I don't think I've consciously ever called anyone or anything controversial on the show that for so many years

was just a stand in for please pay attention right the controversial leader of Honduras every leader is controversial does anyone have a hundred percent approval rating yes

Saddam Hussein did like the most controversial guy on earth so I never say controversial do I get credit I do not I should stop wanting

credit here's another one he said the quiet part out loud could we start saying

that quietly or not at all the quiet part out loud it is a little bit he shouldn't have said that adjacent on the show today
