Okay, so this feels weird to say out loud, but I'm going to share this with you all.

One of my very first memories is about Bill Cosby of all people.

All right, story time. So boom, it's 1984, maybe 1985, I'm not sure.

But my twin sister and I started going to a daycare center in Philadelphia right on South Street.

In fact, the daycare center is still there, I just checked.

I remember that we hadn't been going there very long when the women who ran our little group

at the daycare center sat all of us kids in a big circle on the carpet.

And they asked us about what happened on the Cosby show the night before.

And all the other kids there, all little black kids like us from our neighborhood and South

hopefully started answering their questions. I also remember distinctly not knowing what it was

they was talking about. Like I clearly had not gotten the memo that we were supposed to be watching

this show. It went like this every Friday from then on. Little kids with berets in their hair

and velcro sneakers sitting on a brightly colored rug and being quizzed about what happened

the night before with Woody Huxable and the rest of her family on TV.

Honestly, don't remember if we watched the Cosby show in our house before we started going to

that daycare center, but I do remember we watched it religiously after that like for the rest of the

shows run on the air. But yeah, when I was like four, Bill Cosby literally became my first homework

assignment. The Huxables of course were nothing like my family. They were affluent. Cliff Huxable was

a doctor. Claire Huxable's a lawyer. Their eldest daughter was going to Princeton. Their four other

kids were college bound. Cliff Huxable was an affectionate husband and a game if you know often
