Hello everyone and welcome to decodingtv, a podcast covering the latest and greatest

television. I am David Chen and I'm Don Marshall.

On this episode of decodingtv, we're going to be covering the Lord of the Rings,

the Rings of Power episodes one and two, which just premiered on Prime Video.

And I'm really excited to dive into the show with Don Marshall, who is one of the internet's

best experts about Middle-Earth and everything Lord of the Rings.

I'm blushing David, but thank you. Before we get into our conversation about these episodes,

though, I do want to just outline what our approach is going to be. We are going to assume

that you have seen or at least have familiarity with many of the major plot points from Peter

Jackson's The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring Trilogy, as well as The Hobbit Trilogy.

But we will not assume you have any other knowledge of the show other than what you have been

watching in the episode. So we won't assume you've read The Appendices of a Silmarillion.

We won't assume that you know what happens to these characters. We are going to be very much

approaching the Lord of the Rings, The Rings of Power from a show watcher's perspective. So if
