Summary

The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (10/13/2023)

3:05pm- The Rich Zeoli Show is LIVE from the Grand Hotel in Cape May, New Jersey for our special Friday the 13th broadcast!

3:15pm- On Thursday night, a Philadelphia police officer was killed during a shooting in the Terminal D parking garage at the Philadelphia International Airport. A second officer is currently hospitalized and is reported to be in stable condition.

3:20pm- In a clip that has gone viral, Justin Trudeau— son of Pierre Trudeau and definitely not the son of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro— was confronted by a critic who mocked the Canadian Prime Minister for claiming to be concerned about climate change while simultaneously allowing “nine V8 engines” in his motorcade to remain “idling for 30-minutes.”

3:30pm- Comedian Mark Riccadonna joins The Rich Zeoli Show for a hilarious conversation. On Thursday, Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) was charged with acting as a foreign agent for Egypt. Riccadonna notes that he thought all international secret agents looked like James Bond in Goldeneye—but now Menendez has proven cinema wrong. Want to see one of Mark’s upcoming shows? 3:45pm- On Thursday night, Representative Steve Scalise (R-LA) announced that he would withdraw from the House speakership race—seemingly clearing a path for Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) to become the new Republican nominee. But can Jordan get the 217 House votes he needs? Luke Broadwater of The New York Times writes: “Representative Ann Wagner of Missouri called Mr. Jordan’s candidacy a ‘nonstarter.’ Representative Don Bacon of Nebraska, who represents a district won by President Biden, said lawmakers were worried about caving to the whims of the hard-right members who had refused to back Mr. Scalise. Representative Kelly Armstrong of North Dakota, a supporter of Mr. Jordan’s, acknowledged that there were Republicans who would not support him ‘because they don’t want to reward that behavior.’ Some members, foreseeing a fight that could drag on for weeks, were also discussing how they might give Representative Patrick T. McHenry of North Carolina—the temporary speaker whose role is primarily to hold an election for a speaker—more power to carry out the chamber’s work until the conflict could be resolved.” You can read Broadwater’s full article here: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/10/13/us/politics/house-speaker-jordan-scalise.html

4:00pm- Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has endorsed Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) to be the next Speaker of the House. However, despite the endorsement, he said he doesn’t see a floor vote happening until next week.

4:15pm- In a closed-door vote, House Republicans have nominated Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) to be the next Speaker of the House—he received 124 votes. The only other candidate running against Jordan, Rep. Austin Scott (R-GA), received 88 votes. Though, according to reports, there is still uncertainty as to whether Jordan can unify the Republican caucus and win the speakership on the House floor.

4:30pm- Scott Presler—Executive Director of Early Vote Action—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss his goal of making Joe Biden a one term president. Presler is traveling across the country to turnout the Republican vote in the most important swing states across the country: Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. You can learn more about Early Vote Action, and find out where Presler will be appearing in Pennsylvania this month, here: https://earlyvoteaction.com/learn/resources/about-us/

4:40pm- On Thursday night, a Philadelphia police officer was killed during a shooting in the Terminal D parking garage at the Philadelphia International Airport. 5:00pm- Dr. Wilfred Reilly—Professor of Political Science at Kentucky State University & Author of “Lies My Liberal Teacher Told Me”—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss several university campuses, perhaps most notably at Harvard, where student organizations have outlandishly offered support for Hamas. PLUS, trans-activist Dylan Mulvaney wins the 2023 Virgin Atlantic Attitude Award for “Woman of the Year.” You can pre-order Dr. Reilly’s upcoming book here: https://www.amazon.com/Lies-My-Liberal-Teacher-Told/dp/0063265974

5:40pm- Ali Vitali of NBC News reports that House members “have been advised ‘that no votes are expected in the House until approximately 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 16,’ according to an email obtained by NBC News from Majority Whip Tom Emmer’s office.” You can read updates as they occur here:https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/live-blog/house-speaker-live-updates-scalise-jordan-mccarthy-rcna120243

5:50pm- While appearing on Morning Joe, Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) stated that Bob Menendez “should step down” from his position as U.S. Senator. On Thursday, Menendez was charged with acting as a foreign agent for Egypt. He had previously been charged with accepting bribes in exchange for influence.

6:00pm- John McNesby—President of Fraternal Order Police Lodge #5—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss the tragic shooting at Philadelphia International Airport on Thursday night which resulted in the death of Philadelphia Police Officer Richard Mendez. Officer Raul Ortiz was wounded during the shooting and remains hospitalized in stable condition.

6:20pm- While speaking at the Fight for Our Freedoms college tour, Vice President Kamala Harris told an audience that she “eats ‘no’ for breakfast” and then bragged about her utilization of Venn diagrams.

6:40pm- On the social media platform X, Rep. Austin Scott (R-GA)—who was considered a candidate for Speaker of the House—wrote: “I highly respect Jim Jordan. He is an asset to the Republican Party and our nominee for Speaker. Our conference has spoken, and now we must unite behind Jordan so we can get Congress back to work.”
