I'm Ian Bremmer, and today we are taking a hard look at a grim reality.

The world is heading toward a new nuclear arms race, one that's more chaotic and dangerous than the last.

In the 80 years since the United States dropped bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, only, only eight other countries have gained nuclear

weapons. Many nations chose not to pursue them, and agreements like the nuclear non-proliferation

and strategic arms reduction treaties

helped cap the global arsenal. But in today's fragmented G-Zero world with fast-moving technology

and unpredictable leadership, those safeguards are fraing. China is dramatically expanding its

stockpiles. Russia is rattling its nuclear saber in Ukraine.

U.S. allies from South Korea to Poland, Saudi Arabia to Turkey, are openly questioning

if they need their own deterrent. The U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran could paradoxically

convince Tehran that only nukes will ensure the regime's survival. With new existential threats like AI and bio-weapons,

the question now isn't just who gets the bomb.

It's whether systems designed to prevent catastrophe still work

in a world where the weapons and the rules are changing.

To break down the growing nuclear threat and what we can do to stop it,
