Summary

Two very different agendas are now at odds over the return of American manufacturing. One trend was that of so-called deindustrialization.

The concept refers to the destruction of a nation’s manufacturing industry, with a shift to other forms of employment, primarily in the service industry.

This trend was evident in the United States over the past few decades, with manufacturing industries heading offshore to countries such as China.

Now, however, a new agenda is being declared: reindustrialization. And the return of American industry could again change the global economic order.

And a lot of those industries, they didn't go away, they just went to other countries like

1:18.6

China and even to countries like Canada and Mexico because of programs like NAFTA.

1:23.9

America de-industrialized and many other countries industrialized at our expense.

1:29.3

But now a new agenda is being declared, which is re-industrialization,

1:33.3

re-industrialization, not de-industrialization, and the return of American industry could actually change the entire global economic order.

Now look, to be clear, the concept of deindustrialization

was not officially being pushed by any major party. There were some communist groups looking

to do it based on Marxism and the destruction of basically industry. But it was a term also that
