Summary
In the 2022 midterms, Republicans won the House of Representatives 222-213, grabbing the same number of seats Democrats currently hold in Congress. Because they will be in the majority, they need to elect a House Speaker, but the current favorite — Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) — does not appear to have the necessary votes. Today, we explore what both sides are saying about who the next House Speaker should be.
