know, I kept seeing come up was that the Iroquois farmers in the 17th and 18th century

produced up to five times more grain per acre than the wheat farmers in Europe.

So there's two things that they kind of based this on or why this was happening.

The first is the absence of plows in the Western Hemisphere, which allowed for a higher yield potential than wheat because obviously it's better for the soil.

The second is that corn has a higher yield

potential than wheat because it's a C4 synthetic photosynthetic grass. So if you remember from

the soils episode and the pasture episode, I think it was the pasture episode. We talked about
