Known as Reformation

Reformation Day when Martin Luther nailed his 95

theses to the front door of the castle church in Vittenberg

and I wanted us to just pull over in Park for a moment and talk about the reformers, which we did.

And I eventually, on about our third study, moved us into Martin Luther who was the the first pioneer reformer really

the primary reformer.

Calvin would come in about 25 years later or younger and begin to systematize everything

that needed to be put into a comprehensive whole of systematic theology.

But it was Luther who really put the flag up.

It was Luther who planted the flag. It was Luther who busted up the system.

And so that's why we've been studying Luther. And I would love sometime to do Calvin with you.

I would love sometime to do William Tindale with you and John Knox and other reformers.

And I've had the privilege of taking people to all those

historical places multiple times and standing where these great men stood and

really trying to get in their skin even more and learn from them.

So my spiritual life has been greatly helped by the study of church history.

It's been highly devotional for me.
