Hello and welcome back to the Vacation Bible School podcast.

My name is Jason Kirk, joined by Emily Kirk.

Hello, Emily. How are you today? Hey, I'm good. Thanks. How are doing?

Ah, good enough, I guess. Good enough is the goal. Here on VBS, we are working our way through the entire Bible, story by story, and book by book. We have made our way about halfway through the Book of Exodus, the second book. It's taken us months to get this far. Paring for a long bumpy ride. But we're having fun and we are discovering as we go that each

story is better and weirder and deeper than we were led to believe as kids than we learned in

Sunday school that we learned in big church than we learned in the cartoons and the storybooks

and so forth that we were given

as kids.

As fantastical as everything was growing up, like the way that stories are told and magic is real

and all of that, it's actually way more fun doing it this way than learning about it that

way.

That general working thesis that we have to this point fits really well with this episode the red sea the parting

of the red sea as the Israelites led by Moses have just escaped Egypt after the plagues battered the

Pharaoh's resistance down to nothing and God kept re-fortifying the Pharaoh's resistance just so God
