Today for our daily guided prayer, we are going to take a moment in a sacred act of worship

that has been around as long as Jesus walked on the planet. And that is the tradition of communion.

Some religious traditions may call it the Eucharist, the Lord's Supper, the Holy Communion.

But this is something that was initiated by Jesus himself while he was on the planet. He said,

take the bread as if it was my body and take some wine as if it was my blood.

And so if you have to, pause this guided prayer,

take a moment, grab some bread or a cracker,

grab some wine or some juice or any sort of beverage,

and let's prepare to do this sacred act of worship together.

As I read this verse for you in 1 John chapter 1,000 verses 3 to 4,

I want you to think about how many times it says we or us in this verse. This is John the apostle writing to his beloved church and community, and he says, talking of the apostles who actually lived

and walked with Jesus, he said, we saw it, we heard it, and now we are telling you so that you

can experience along with us. This experience of communion with the Father and the Son, Jesus Christ, our motive is simply this.

We want you to enjoy this too. Your joy will double our joy. With that in mind, if you can, I want you to set

an intention to take this act of communion,

not just with yourself, but to share it along with somebody else.

Maybe that can be through physically doing this alongside somebody.

Possibly it could be through sharing this guided prayer and texting about your common experience,

but this was meant to be a community act.

As the Apostle John talks about communion, you know, communion is the sharing of intimate thoughts and feelings.

So right now, will you take a breath and prepare yourself to share intimate

thoughts and feelings with our Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ? Let's prepare for that in this moment.
