We are joined today by Francis Gary Powers Jr.

the son of Francis Gary Powers, the pilot of the U2 spy plane that was shot down over the Soviet Union in 1960.

His father was captured by the Soviets and eventually traded back to the United States for

captured Soviets by Rudolph Abel. Gary Jr. is the acting president of

the Tyson's Regional Chamber of Commerce, the president of Powers Consulting, and

the founder and chairman emeritus of the Cold War Museum in

Vint Hill, Virginia. He has spent much of his adult life trying to educate the

public on the real story behind the U2 incident, dispelling myths and

ensuring his father's legacy among the greatest of American heroes.
