Hello and welcome to a special live edition of Past the Mike here on Martin Luther King

Jr's holiday in 2018. Naturally we wanted to bring on an expert to speak with us.

So we have as our guest today Reverend Dr. Micah Edmond, that first couple of titles sounds a lot like Martin Luther King Jr. We have on with us

Reverend Dr. Michael Edmondson, who is a pastor in Grand Rapids, Michigan and also a scholar of King's theology, particularly his theology of

suffering. You've been on the show before so welcome back Dr. Edmondson.

It's a day on, not a day off.

You know that's right. You know that's right.

I was just reflecting that for folks who talk about race and

religion and things like that that the holiday is often one of the busiest

days for us right that's exactly right.

Yeah, it's been, it's been a, it's been quite a day already for me, but I'm grateful, man, that we have this opportunity

to really reflect on on King's life and legacy and the really way in which it points to the triumph of our God and his grace and his justice.

So yeah, what a great day.

Well, look, I see you wearing all black today.

That's right, man.

I'm in all black, a little bit of hinter gray too.

That was not a conscious decision on my part,

but it seems appropriate.
