Justine did say to you that this podcast series was finished, but some significant news has broken overnight.

In our last episode, we told you we believed the most up-to-date location of Samantha Cook's was that she was back in County Kerry, possibly in Trilley.

Well, out of the blue yesterday, exactly one week after the end of the podcast series, we began receiving messages from listeners telling us that Samantha Cooks had been arrested in a post office

in Tralee yesterday morning in what some described as a sting operation.

Witnesses say that the arrest was made by an undercover Garda police officer who had waited

all week for Samantha to show up. So we contacted the Irish guardee who confirmed the day's events in a statement which reads,

Earlier today, Friday 12th of July 2024, Garthi arrested a woman in her 30s as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged welfare fraud in Tralee.

She's currently detained at a guard station in the southern region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Investigations are ongoing.

Then my fellow producer Liam O'Brien spoke to contacts in Kerry, who told him that this woman in her 30s was indeed Samantha.

This was soon followed by other media outlets, including the Irish Independent,

reporting that their sources also say that the arrested woman is Sam Cucks. And today, July

the 13th, the Irish Examiner reports that she's still in guard the custody. We contacted Samantha's

victims who we'd interviewed for this podcast to alert them that this news might break.

Their reactions were swift and brief and, as you can imagine, lots of exclamation marks.

They said, wow, blimey, OMG, that's amazing.

Oh my goodness, Jesus, thank you so much for this news. And then,

one, without an exclamation mark, I feel so relieved. They're all hoping it'll be the end of a chapter
