This is what you do when you have a quarterback on a rookie contract. You shell out whatever it takes to surround him with talent so you can go and compete for a Super Bowl. And I was of the belief that this team was due for a big step back and I still think win-wise they will. But the more you think about the AFC, the more you can sort of see a deja vu scenario

where I'm not saying the Patriots are going to waltz their way to a Super Bowl again.

But I think that it's going to be as open this year as it was last year,

barring, you know, Mahomes magically being fully healthy and barring the Bengals somehow not being a disastrous franchise.

It should be a competitive AFC and you should be in the mix again.

And now that you have this guy, you can kind of believe in it.

So wait a minute.

You believe that helping the young quarterback is a good thing.

I do.

I do, yeah.

I know that you might be called defensive for saying that.

That helping the young quarterback is good. The same way that like when they got rid of Joe Milton, it was, it was because Drake May was like a baby. Is that what we're talking about? Like, so Drake May needs more and is needy. Is that what we're talking about? Well, yeah. Or, you know, you could say that it's an overpay, which is something I've heard a lot in recent days.

And it was a little bit because no one else was willing to pay that.

But you wanted the guy. And if you wanted to pay less, other teams would have been involved.

So that's, that's. And ultimately, like, did you pay? Did you overpay? Yeah. Sure.

A little bit. If he goes out there and has 1,200 yards and 10 touchdowns, no one will care. In the end, like, what does it really matter if he's more valuable to you than anybody else in the NFL? Like, he should be more valuable to the Patriots than anybody else because you have Drake May. You're trying to help the guy out. You have not had a true legitimate bona fide number one receiver.

Diggs had a good year last year, but somebody like this who two years ago had 1,500 yards.

And yes, there are concerns about the need.

There are concerns about the attitude, all of that.

But you're telling me it's better to not do it than go out and help the young quarterback.

And I don't know, try to win
