0:45.8	They're used to symbolize things.
0:47.6	It's just man's nature.
0:51.3	We identify things and connect things in our thinking.
0:56.4	But in the Bible, God often uses symbolism himself. And when a symbolism is connected to some divine characteristic, it is especially important. And I would say
1:03.8	it is especially sacred and holy. Don't mess with it. We've come to one of those today in Genesis
1:09.3	chapter number nine with God
1:11.0	instituting the first rainbow. Now, at least as far as it is recorded, it is the first
1:17.2	rainbow seen on earth. I think that's because the canopy of the heavens had been broken up
1:21.8	in the worldwide flood. And so the whole atmosphere has changed now.
1:33.6	And so this is the time that this is first introduced, but it is why it is given that is so significant.
1:34.9	Let's read just a little bit in Genesis chapter 9 beginning in verse 8, and God spake unto Noah
1:39.3	and to his sons with him saying, and I, behold, I established my covenant with you and with

1:45.4	and with every living creature that is with you of the fowl of the cattle, of every beast of the earth
