It's day one of OpenAI's 12 days of Shipmiss, which promises a new AI product launch or demo every day for 12 days.

And one of the most highly anticipated launches is rumored to be OpenAI's SORA, a text-to-video model that's part of a new trend of World Simulator AI tools.

Kate Rooney digs into that for today's tech check.

Hi, Leslie.

So a lot of us that are using AI at this point,

we're using chatbots.

So you type in a question, it spits out some sort of answer,

generates creative text, for example,

but the next frontier right now is emerging as text to video.

Beyond that, we're even seeing more video to

3D worlds, which a handful of companies announced this week. It does underline how a lot of these

features, they're buzzy at first, and then everybody launches the same thing, races to launch a

competing version. And the bar keeps getting raised. You can think of this as kind of trying to

keep up with the Joneses in AI. The major think of this as kind of trying to keep up with

of the same features, which quickly become table stakes. This week, AI pioneer Faye Faye Lee and her

world labs set the new bar with a buzzy image to 3D video feature.

It looks a lot like a video game.

and then explore it in 3D.
