NASCAR has deep roots in the American South, and it's also had its share of racial tension.

Confederate imagery is a part of the national conversation and NASCAR was in the middle

of it all.

In the campgrounds, Confederate flags continue to fly from recreational vehicles.

As part of our Black History Month coverage here at the LEAD, we're joined by the Athletics

David Aldrich to talk about Black NASCAR drivers from the past and present, how the organization

is trying to make its future more diverse, and what he experienced while attending a race.
