Hello Latino USA listener, here's a story from our archives.

And after that, after Shane Sir and Lacey gave Andrea and Yoli a matter of family wedding,

it's the first one I've ever been to.

I'm surrounded by a small crowd, cousins, aunts, uncles, my family, who I've only just met

for the first time yesterday.

My mom left home as a teenager and never went back, so I never knew her family and my

father was out of the picture before I was born.

So until this moment, the only family I've ever known was my brother and my mom.

I've always belonged to the small corner of the world that we shared, just the three

of us.

My family tree has always been this single splinter.

I'm here at this wedding because of someone who's not here, someone who I've never met

and will never meet.

Her name is Alicia, she should have been my grandmother, but instead, she's a stranger,

like nearly everyone next to me waiting to walk the aisle before the bride.

She's my family and I'm only now getting to know her story.
