It's quarter to two on Thursday afternoon, the 8th of September. We were expecting to be talking to you about the energy crisis today. We had an interview lined up with Labour's deputy leader Angela Rainer. But the mood has shifted with the news that will probably have reached many of you now, that Her Majesty the Queen is under medical supervision. We thought it was time

to pause to have a look at the kind of thoughts, preparations, questions that will be going on

throughout the country right now. And there is probably nobody better to do that with

than our colleague, Andrew Marr. And Andy Andy it's also fair to say in the way that

newsrooms across the world will have to prepare for these

eventualities you made a documentary we can call it the

obituary that will eventually be brought up I have made a film about the

Queen's life you know designed to go out at a certain

moment.

That was a very, very, I found that quite an emotional thing to do.

I think if the worst happens and I'm on air, I'll tell you right now, I think I'll find

it quite hard to hold it together.

I wouldn't say I know her at all.

I'm a journalist and she doesn't know journalists, but I spent a lot of time with her and the family over the years.

And, you know, the phrase coming from the palace, we have to be very, very cautious as journalists

about any official information coming out at this stage is that she's under medical supervision

and that she is comfortable.

We don't really know what that means.

What I can tell you is that there is really grave concern around the palace and around members of

the royal family at the moment. So what does that mean in terms of what will be going on behind

the scenes? Because I'm sure the facade of Whitehall will still look the same

and Downing Street and Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace and all the other palaces
