12 million people are expected to hold street parties at some point over the long weekend.

To celebrate 70 years on the throne, it's a huge moment.

For someone who's been a royal watcher for decades,

There is a sense I think that the monarchy is the great connecting thread to the nation's identity and its history.

This institution embraces our past and our present and our future,

in a way that's enormously unifying, particularly at a time of huge volatility,

of huge tragedy of depression.
