It's been a while since we've done one of these, but it's good to be back. And as always, we begin with a historical reference. And since we've had some time off, I've been doing some reading. And I'm currently trying to fill in a knowledge gap in my historical knowledge base and that is the war of 1812 and so I'm reading a book right now 1812 the war that forged an Asian by Walter Borneman and he really does a great job of sort of setting the stage for the war of 1812 and a lot of that leads us to Aaron Burr

one of our first vice presidents who literally shot and killed a man in a duel while vice president,

which is just mind-blowing. But he goes from servant as vice president, a heartbeat away from the presidency under

Thomas Jefferson to not even get in a vote for vice president in the subsequent

election. So dismayed, he heads west and his plan is to undermine his former boss Thomas Jefferson

and prevent him from acquired moor land west of the Louisiana purchase and in that
