Right now we're in a book called The Pursuit of Holiness. This is part three today. It is a book

by the late Jerry Bridges and it takes on a subject that really a lot of times isn't very popular

and because sometimes when things are difficult we tend to just say hi. I'm not going to worry about

that but that could be to our peril. So we decided we would take it on the study and we're going to

dive in to part three of that after our openness and prayer. Lord, thank you for today.

Thank you for an opportunity to unpack your word. Thank you for Jerry Bridges and the work that

that that he did under the the guidance of the Holy Spirit and thank you Lord for again

using him in our lives today. I know Lord that he has received his reward in heaven and no doubt has

received well done good and faithful servant. His legacy continues today, Lord, as we take the step

towards sharpening ourselves and each other through the study of your word on a topic that is

talked about quite a bit and that is the topic of holiness and the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

So we're in part three and this is title pretty straightforward. Holiness is not an option.

Holiness is not an option. You remember some of the verses that we talked about when we first

started. We talked about those a little bit in this chapter and I know it's one of those verses

that I've gone back and looked at many times. Hebrews 12, 14 make every effort underline that because

we're going to talk about that to live in peace with all men and to be holy. So that means that

effort is tied to being at peace with all men and to be holy and then of course the writer of Hebrews

doubles down on the importance of this without holiness. No one will see the Lord. No one will see the

Lord. What does this mean? So does our salvation depend on some degree of our attaining some

level of personal holiness? Well, Scripture is quite clear on two points here. So let's be sure

that I'm going to tell you today and I told some of the guys as I was talking to you in the last
