Summary

In this episode of After Hours With Amanda, I’m talking about pain, self worth, surgery recovery, friendship, therapy, faith, and what happens when life strips away the version of you who can perform, produce, help, and hold everything together. This is not medical advice, just lived experience from a year that changed me. I talk about chronic pain, the anniversary feeling around last year’s anal fissure, little Amanda, Hoover people, food and fiber, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and the belief I am trying to unlearn: that I am only worthy when I am useful. And just like that, we're back.

0:02.0

We're working on consistency.

0:05.0

No, I'm kidding.

0:06.0

Oh, that was very off key though.

0:07.0

I hope you have headphones in.

0:09.0

I hope nobody heard that.

0:10.0

But let's just kick things off with if you're new here, welcome back or welcome to the After Hours

0:15.0

with Amanda podcast, the podcast for whatever era of life you may be in because I just feel like it's easier to keep it

0:22.3

broad than to be so specific, which doesn't actually help when I'm trying to put my

0:28.9

podcast in a category because it's like what category does it go in? But just like me,

0:34.0

I've always felt kind of like a Heinz 57, which if you've ever heard that saying,

0:37.6

it's just a plethora of things. I can't say the word, the amalgamation. Is that the word? I don't

0:44.8

know. But this episode is going to be pretty, I don't know, pretty special to me. And I think

0:50.5

it's one that I've wanted to talk about now for a while because it's been a long

0:55.4

year. And I mean, that in kind of like the journey of last year, if you've been around the health,

1:01.0

the fact I just had a second surgery last week, that one was luckily a little bit more on the

1:07.6

quote unquote cosmetic side. But the reason for it was actually not born out of cosmetic

1:14.3

desire. Now, the first time I had booby surgery, breast augmentation, that was born out of the

1:20.8

fact that I literally just wanted my original boobs back from what I had previous to children.

1:26.8

And I actually didn't go as big as what they were

1:29.1

before the tiny queens and the three years on and off of breastfeeding each of them

1:34.0

at different times and stuff. But this one was more kind of a result of our health issue
