On December 13, 2001, 35-year-old Tracy Roberts was upstairs in her house in the rural town of early Iowa, running a bath for her baby daughter.

And as the water began to fill the tub, Tracy heard the front door open downstairs.

Tracy assumed it had to be her husband getting home early from a trip,

so she scooped the baby up and headed into the hall and over to the top of the stairs

to call down to him and say

hello. But when she got to the top of the stairs and looked down to the first floor

it was not her husband who had just come in the house. Instead it was two people who she didn't recognize and the

moment she saw them they looked up at her and began charging up the stairs after her.

Within minutes two guns would be fired and at least one person would be dead.

But the mystery of what actually happened that night and why would take nearly a decade

to solve.
