I think Elias Barclay, our science editor and Alexia Fernandez-Cambal, who covers economic

policy and who both of them have been doing great stories about Puerto Rico, the hurricane

there, the disaster response and the sort of the larger economic situation wanted to bring

them in and talk about this.

So I have a good hosting perspective.

I was literally in Germany when this was going on trying to cover their election in

a different time zone.

Their cable news was all in a foreign language and mostly talking about weird German stuff.

So I kind of like missed it initially.

And like Elias, look what happened here?

Like how did the island get so flattened?

So I think a lot of people were probably not, were caught off guard by Hurricane Maria in

part because we were still following the story of Hurricane Harvey and Irma, but then

Hurricane Maria popped up and started hurtling through the Atlantic into the Caribbean really

quickly.
