Hey, guys, so a listener wrote in and said that they saw the new documentary about Amy Winehouse

0:07.0

and the whole time she was wondering what we would have to say about this because

0:13.6

because we talk about movies sometimes, you know, and so I thought, hey, let's all go see the

0:18.6

documentary and let's talk about it on the podcast. So we all went and saw the documentary, the

0:24.5

movie, and now we're ready to talk about it. Are you guys ready to talk about the documentary?

0:28.7

Let's do it. This is the Psychology in Seattle podcast. I am your host, Dr. Kirk Honda. I am

0:35.5

chair of the couple and family therapy program at Antioch University, Seattle, and I'm also a

0:40.4

practicing therapist. My name is Paulette Perhatch. I am a Seattle writer.

0:45.4

In my name is Umberto Kastanya. I am a bodyguard for a starlet who is on trouble times lately.

0:52.0

Interesting. That's interesting parallel. So I thought I would start with just what I knew

0:57.8

about Amy Winehouse before she died before the documentary. I thought we might talk. I thought

1:02.9

we might just go and see Quential Order here, okay? So what I knew about her was her song Rehab.

1:08.7

I remember hearing that song. It was huge in what like 2007 or eight or something. That's right.

1:15.7

And I remember seeing pictures of her and I saw someone who was marketing herself as a tattooed

1:23.6

retro rebel. You know, she had an interesting combination of things. She was like low class

1:30.7

England and she was tattooed, but she was singing these super old jazz tunes, but her hair was like

1:38.3

60s, spoof font, beehive kind of thing. She had all these really interesting visual elements to her.

1:45.6

The first time I heard of Amy Winehouse was also when I heard the song Rehab. I had not

1:50.1

heard about her before and I got to say that until I saw the movie. Honestly, I think that might

1:56.2

be the only song I ever heard of hers. Really? Yeah. And I had an impression about her that was

2:03.6

really negative. I'm not saying the documentary. Actually, I don't spoil the party, but I will say

2:09.9

this. My preconceived notion of her was actually that it was another front like a Lady Gaga type front.
