versus a professional home care company. Let's talk about caregivers. If you have ever needed a

caregiver, either for yourself or for a loved one, then you most likely

had either hired them directly or you chose to hire a local home care company. Either way,

hiring private caregivers on your own can be a full-time job. And knowing the risk and

responsibilities of hiring a caregiver will help protect you if you decide that you're going

to hire a private

caregiver on your own.

The first thing you need to do is to run full background checks on each potential caregiver

you may hire.

You will need to do the background checks yourself or some of your local police stations

will offer that service to you.

It can be tempting to skip this step, especially if you're under pressure for time or maybe

they were a referral from a good friend or family member that you know and trust and you

think it wouldn't be necessary.
