You are listening to the Sabby Painter Podcast and I want to tell you that this weekend

was super exciting because this weekend the Sabby Painter podcast passed 2 million downloads. I was a little

disappointed that I didn't get to watch it happens kind of like watching the

odometer flip on your car but I am so happy that we have past 2 million downloads. That's a huge

huge milestone and it makes me really excited that so many people are able to enjoy the podcast. Speaking of which, I have some other

exciting news, the Savvy Painter Podcast is now available on Pandora. Pandora has a lot of exciting things happening in their

development and one of which is getting into podcasting so it was a huge

huge honor to be invited to be part of their beta program.

Bit by bit they are launching the podcasting channel and Savvy Pina is now part of that.

So in addition to all the other places that you can listen to the

savvy painter podcast, you can now hear it on Pandora. My guest this week is the

artist Lisa Kairos.

Lisa paints abstracted landscapes using encaustic pinks and some collage.

As she describes it, she chooses sites that hold the tension between the natural and human elements of

landscape. In this episode Lisa and I talk about the two times in her life when she

had to renegotiate her idea of being an artist. The first was just

after college as she was deciding whether or not to go to grad school and the second

happened when she had her first child. We're all well versed I think in the fears of becoming a

parent and what that might do to an art career. So in our conversation we

decided to explore the benefits of being an artist and a parent.

Lisa and I also talk about how a series evolves from a seed, then an idea, and finally morphs

its way into a full body of work.
