I actually very rarely will hire someone that hasn't had a shit job. If they've done the night shifts, if they've pulled the fuck in 12 hours, they find working for me incredibly easy, which means they produce more, they have more fun, I love working with them. But they've never had a difficult job. They will think that coming into this office, filming me, editing shit, they will think that's hard. Paul Mort is a two-time master coach of the year, international speaker, best-selling author and podcast host. He's best known for his no bullshit approach to personal growth. What is the problem with work-life balance? People who are trying to achieve it don't even have any idea what it looks like. If you can't see the target, you can't fucking hit it. Work-life balance is a jigsaw that you're trying to make.

You don't start with the corners.

0:39.7

You don't even start with the edges.

0:41.2

You start with the picture on the fucking box.

0:43.1

If you don't want it support to look like, you're never going to build that jigsaw.

My podcast will remain advert free, but all I ask is that you try Newtonic, which is now

available in the Sainsbury's meal deal. It's in all major and good petrol stations across the UK, and we now have a store locator on our website for you to find your nearest store. If you just try it once, that's all I ask. And that's it. No more adverts. Enjoy this conversation. It's a great one. Paul Moore, we started recording three days ago, and my laptop fucked up. You wore the same top in case you wanted to do some continuation,

1:11.9

but we're going to get into it.

1:13.1

Why is the problem with work-life balance?

1:16.2

Well, I was wondering, I was wondering what we're going to do here.

1:18.9

So I watched the top, I got a light ready, I try to look the same.

1:22.4

The problem with work-life balance, I believe,

1:26.1

is that the people looking to achieve it believe that it

1:30.7

should be some kind of neat, perfect 50-50 split between working business. And as somebody

1:38.2

that's been a business for 26 years this year, that is just simply not the case. Businesses have seasons.

1:46.3

And the second problem is, is that I believe that people who are trying to achieve it

1:50.6

don't even have any idea what it looks like.

1:52.5

It's people who just, it's like people who just try and lose weight with no clear target in

1:57.3

mind.

1:57.7

Therefore, it can't create a clear plan.

1:59.8
