I'm Jay Warner Wallace.

I can ask this question a lot. What do you do if you're working cold cases, you're working homicides, and how do you reconcile the problem of evil? You see it all the time when you're working homicide suspects. And sometimes you find yourself asking the question you know it's not it's

hard not to get cynical and skeptical about people when you're always

working the worst aspect of our human nature you're always examining the worst aspect of our human nature. You're always examining the worst aspect of our nature.

And so the problem of evil is often a question that I get asked by both victims, by observers who are watching trials.

We happen to be in the middle of a trial right now

and we'll get a verdict here pretty soon.

And you watch the entire length of the trial,

you can't help but find yourself asking questions

about the nature of evil.

Why, how could an all powerful, all loving God allow some of the horrific things we see happen

in these cases to occur to begin with?

And you know you find yourself when you work in these cases, really,

you have to kind of ask yourself why you're working these cases
