I'm Jay Warner Wallace. Okay. One of the first arguments that I

often, I say arguments, one of the first talking points that I will bring up as a guy who

worked cold cases or worked any series of crimes is the kind of how

do we ground our moral inclinations or moral intuitions about what's right and wrong, especially when you're living in California right now where so much is upside down,

where we're trying to figure out like what, well, how bad is that crime really?

So much of what we see here in our state has been either the

crimes, punishments have been reduced greatly or sometimes things have been completely decriminalized.

Well it's because we're trying to figure out like how to what this state is

struggling with what is the level of bad, what is the level of immoral behavior we're

willing to to tolerate in our culture in order to reform the

system or to achieve some better end. I mean I think sometimes these these

ambitions are probably heartfelt but they may be misguided.

But first of all, how would you ground what's right or wrong to begin with?

Especially in a culture that here especially is moving away from objective

transcendent grounding that Christianity provides us. So is it even possible to
