Over the last few years, Wandsworth Prison has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Whether it was the escape of the terrorism suspect, Daniel Khalif, or footage of drones

illegally dropping packages to prisoners, or the shockingly unsafe, overcrowded conditions at the UK's

biggest prison.

Wandsworth Prison, according to today's report, has had its worst year in memory.

It's dangerously overcrowded with crumbling cells, violence, vermin, drugs,

CCTV, security failings and a shortage of experienced staff.

Shocking conditions, dangerous levels of violence, widespread drug use and failures in leadership

at every level.

The problem I think with Wandsworth is it's just a place for ruining human lives and potential.

We know that something has gone very wrong at HMP Wandsworth,

but until now, remarkably little has been known about the people running it.

Until that is, an explosive Sunday Times investigation lifted the lid on the colourful life of the man

who, until recently, was one of the most senior officers at Britain's most notorious prison.

The story today, the prison chief linked to organised crime.
