Today on Truth for Life, we'll look to the Bible to see what it means

to follow Christ. Alistair Begg is teaching from 1st Peter chapter 2.

0:48.8

We've already noted that he has been giving instruction concerning submission in the civil realm of government

0:57.1

and in the realm of everyday employment from verse 18 on. And he's going to go in in verse 1 of chapter 3

1:06.2

to address the nature of submission within the family unit, and in the midst of all of that,

2:09.4

You must never suffer.

2:11.6

And Christ turns to him, and he said, get behind me, Satan.

2:15.8

You're now speaking like a man. you are not speaking in the way that God

2:20.9

illuminates the heart. And so it's an amazing transformation in Peter's life that he who would

2:27.1

run away from suffering, who would run away from the nature of submission, now finds himself

2:32.6

bowing beneath that same principle and describing its practice

2:37.4

for his readers who would follow him. If it was a lesson that Peter needed to learn, it is a lesson
