This episode is the second to last conversation John and I are having about the biblical theme

of priests and specifically the royal priest throughout the story of the Bible.

Today we're going to dive into a story that depending on the Christian tradition you may

be a part of or grew up in, you might or might not be familiar with the story.

But this is a story that provides an important window into the role of Jesus as the exalted,

cosmic royal priest.

This story is the ascension of Jesus.

The outline of Jesus living, dying, being raised from the dead is pretty familiar, but there's

also a crucially important story at the beginning of the book of Acts where Jesus leaves his followers.

He does this by ascending up into the skies and disappearing into the heavenly realm.

What is this all about?

We're going to explore this story and also ponder why this is particularly a challenging

story for modern readers to fully comprehend.

We're going to look at what this story and actually a bunch of other passages in the New

Testament have to say about what Jesus is doing right now as he is this very moment serving

in this priestly role, interceding on behalf of humanity before God's Father.
