I am with the one and only Michael Phanone.

Michael Phadone is an important voice and an important man in this country.

And so let's start out by asking a question that I want to put on the table and it's what does an American hero look like?

Because you're looking at one. There's a name that many people will know from this podcast because

there was a famous television series about Company E of the 506th

parachute infantry regiment of the 101st Airborne Division that was famously

commanded by a man named Richard Winners from Pennsylvania.

And in that series, Dick Winters is reminiscing about his experiences in the war as an old man.

And he recalls a letter that was written to one of his men and the question that his grandson had asked was,

were you a hero in the war? And the man paused and he said, no, but I served in the company

of heroes.

And Michael Phenone is such a man, and he served in the company of heroes who were viciously

attacked by a mob sent to tear down what Washington imagined and created with humility, what Lincoln saved with courage and

principle, what a million people have given their lives to sacrifice, cutting it short so that

people who have not yet been born can be born

in the tradition of American freedom. Michael Phanone is the best of us. And so welcome Michael

Fanon. Thank you. You're making you cry, man. That was probably the best introduction I think I've ever had.
