Summary

What if the most powerful thing you could do in the middle of conflict is simply be at peace? Graham Cooke closes out this opening session with a vision of the overcoming life that most of us haven't considered — that rest, joy, and astonishment at who God is are more powerful than any exercise of authority. The Prince of Peace walked in one day and never left. What changes when we live from that reality?

Key Scriptures:

+ Matthew 16:18. "On this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

+ Matthew 16:19. "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven."

+ Philippians 4:7. "The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

+ Romans 8:37. "In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us."

What changes when we start living from that truth? Let's jump it with Graham Cook.

0:56.8

Jesus paid a price for us to be here, and we pay a price too.

1:02.3

But it's not something we're bothered about, it's actually something we're excited about.

1:07.8

I love that.

1:09.2

I was reading a biography of J.C. Penny. And his whole goal was,

1:15.5

I loved his whole attitude and approach. He said, my goal in business is to tie that 90%

1:24.1

because I figure if God can live on 10%, so can I. But here's the thing, this is his idea

1:31.9

behind it, which I thought was totally Jesus. His whole idea behind it was, and if all my

1:38.8

expenses are like this, then God has to give me, like, if I'm giving him 90%, then he has to cover all of my expenses.

1:49.8

So if I'm tithing at 90%, he has to empower me to make more money that I can even imagine.

1:56.5

This is a Seilal moment. Pause and calmly think of that. I'm not talking about tithing. I'm

2:02.5

talking about the principle of life in God, you know? You can't out-give God. It's the best

2:09.0

game in town, but you'll never win. But it is fun trying. We have to believe in the goodness of God for us. We have to believe that God is right in my

2:23.1

story, right on my journey, and that he is absolutely with me in everything, and that whatever he

orders, he pays for. Yeah?
