A very special Joe today, not our regular interview show for good reason.

Ten years ago, something big happened in my life.

And ten years later, I'm here to testify about it.

I did not see this day coming.

I did not know I would be making this announcement today.

But God knew.

And what happened to me 10 years ago changed basically everything about my life

in ministry then and from that point forward.

I am so excited to tell you about it today on Joe.

Here we go.

If you want to get technical, it was actually over 10 years ago, a date I'll never forget, January 3rd of 2012, to be exact, that I decided my life needed to change.

I was overcome by my desire to be comfortable, popular, and privy to the plans of God when I put my face in the carpet fibers of my office floor in complete surrender.

And I said these words, okay, God, mess with me. It radically changed my life.

Now, I realize that's not a very professional prayer. I admit that

through the years, I have prayed better, but it was the prayer that I needed to pray to allow God

to do a work in the deepest parts of my soul. I was spiritually stale, I was depleted,

and I needed the intervention of God.

I was getting caught up in what people thought of me, doing all the right things that people told me to grow an audience and to sell books.

I wanted to know what God was doing, and I was doing my best to obey him, but I just felt so empty and sighed spiritually.

I wanted so many things, some good things and some things that were good that had turned

into straight up idols in my life. I just didn't know what to call them. I didn't know to call

them idols. I needed God to consume me more than my life
