Greg asked me as the NAMPAC security bus

rumbled through the final security checkpoint.

I had worked there for three years as a security guard

and had learned not to ask too many questions.

The truth was, I had wondered the same thing a dozen times

or more over the years.

There was plenty about the plant that didn't make sense.

No power lines ran from the plant.

There were no substations nearby to change the voltage levels.

A hydroelectric plant sat 10 miles closer to the nearest town

than the NAMPAC plant.

Still, I didn't ask questions.

The pay was good and nosing around seemed like a surefire way
