Summary

The current economy is feeding fears in the creative community. Is this feast or famine cycle the new normal or can we make our own opportunities as creative entrepreneurs? We’re exploring how embracing new things and making mistakes supports success.

We’ve got Christopher Jared on with us again. He’s the VP of the Outside Creator Studio, which is responsible for the content, socials, and events for Outside Interactive. Christopher is an expert in the field of media and publishing. He has experience running a publishing group that produced free ski and snowboard magazines, was the CEO of ROAM, a venture-backed company, and founded Inkwell Media Company.

Christopher has a ton of insight for us on many of the burning questions that I hear from our community. So, we’re going to explore some of those in this episode and see if we can get some ideas.

We’re talking about the power of experimentation and more!

Highlights:

  • Building New Skills and Experimenting
  • Embracing Mistakes and Quick Recovery
  • Self-Directed Curiosity and Execution as a Hiring Manager
  • Taking Breaks from Technology and Engaging in Play

Enjoy!

0:50.2

creative habits, about how there is an art to making mistakes, how life is not about avoiding

0:57.4

mistakes, but about recovering quickly from errors. If you were a subscriber to my newsletter,

1:02.1

this went out, and it was a very popular post or very popular newsletter. I got a lot of

1:08.1

replies back to that, and so i wanted to make sure to include that

1:13.0

we from there talked about the future job market for creators how to differentiate

1:18.6

whether you were ought to be a generalist or a specialist how to think about things like

1:23.0

i which we've gone in depth on previous episodes we do not do that today but it's really a

1:26.9

thought on a take a hot take on our vision of the economy.

1:31.0

And if it's a good, okay, or it's a bad time for creators to find jobs and to build their personal brands and skill sets.

We talk about breaking from technology, a reference back to my conversation with

1:47.2
